He woke up to his 20th birthday, his Facebook account was full of birthday wishes from friends and loved ones. He was gettin some lovin.
He got the call, he had been invited to an interview for an apprenticeship at a top notch funky Asian hair dressing salon in the city. After months of searching for a salon that would take him under their wing, the one of dreams offers him an olive branch.
The interview was for today, he had to cancel lunch plans with his friends for his birthday. No one could miss an opportunity of a life time! Luckily his friends were all more than happy to go out later that night. He also caught a lift into the city from his roommate. Bonus! Attended the interview and got the position! Starting in January! A new year, a new pathway ahead of him. Boo yah!
With a spring in his step he went to have dinner with his family and the night away with his mates.
For everyone out there, don't just stand idly by hoping that moment will come. Go out there and knock on all the doors of opportunities. At least one of them will open up for you. If my friend hadn't persevered in applying for apprenticeships in hair salons, he would not have had the chance to work in the one of his dreams. He just threw the dice and waited to see where it took him.
